A country-minded view of the news, beyond the passing headline.
Grand News Perspective

Editorial policy

Grand News Perspective aims to make the reading of countryside news more thoughtful, not more certain than the available information allows. We distinguish explanation from opinion and make our editorial choices with that aim in view.

Accuracy and care

We take care with names, wording and context, and avoid presenting an interpretation as an established fact. Where a subject is disputed or information may change, our wording should make that clear. Readers can contact us with a specific correction and the relevant article or passage.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for the publication's readers. A commercial relationship does not buy favourable coverage, a particular conclusion or control over unrelated editorial material.

Corrections

When an error is brought to our attention, we review the detail and amend it when warranted. A correction should make the changed point clear rather than quietly leaving readers with a mistaken impression.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid, gifted or otherwise arranged partner material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where used, they are identified as such and are not presented as documentary evidence.

Our point of view

A headline is only the first field of view

Countryside stories carry a sense of place, as well as facts and voices. We look at how they are framed, what their language suggests and what a reader might seek next.
